We exist to send, and to come back honest.
Sent began in 2009 with one trip to Honduras and a borrowed van. It has grown into a sending agency with a short list of rules, the first being that locals lead.
How a van became a movement
In 2009, a retired contractor named Walt Brennan asked our church for volunteers to help rebuild a school in Honduras. Eleven people went. Six came back with a plan to return, and the rest came back with questions we are still glad to be asked.
Over the next decade we learned what not to do. We stopped building what communities could build themselves. We stopped photographing children. We started asking partners what they needed, then waiting for the answer.
Today Sent trains and sends teams on a single calendar, funds partner salaries year-round and publishes every budget. Our job is to carry people across the world and, just as carefully, back home again.

Four commitments we keep
Locals lead
Every project is requested, directed and owned by an in-country partner.
Honest budgets
We publish what each trip costs and where every dollar lands.
Prepared people
No one boards a plane without ten weeks of training and a signed code of conduct.
Return well
Re-entry matters. Every returning team gets a debrief and a home-city assignment.
How we got here
A few moments that shaped who we are today.
Eleven to Honduras
Our first team rebuilds a rural school in six days.
First partner salary
We fund a full-time Kenyan project director and stop sending leaders.
Ten countries
Teams now serve in ten countries on one shared calendar.

What we hold to
- Every person is made in God's image and worth serving well.
- The gospel is good news in word and in deed.
- The local church is the lasting engine of change.
- Short-term teams serve long-term partners, never the reverse.
- Generosity and humility belong on the same flight.
