Salamander hunts in Hollow Creek for the little ones, and a canoe test on the lake for anyone who wants to paddle to the island.
Summer 2027 · registration open
Overnight camp for ages 7 to 16 and day camp for ages 5 to 10, on ninety acres beside the Pisgah National Forest. Creek, campfire, cabin devotions, and no phones until Saturday.

Lakeside campfire on the last night of Session 2, and four more moments from summer 2026. Photos by our media counselors.
Since 1961
Pine Hollow began as a week of tents for twenty-two kids from three Brevard churches. Today there are fourteen cabins, a dining hall that seats 180, a lake with a fleet of orange canoes and an outdoor chapel on a slab of granite everybody calls the Rock.
What hasn't changed is the shape of a day: breakfast at 8, cabin devotions, three activity blocks, a swim, supper, chapel at the Rock, and a counselor reading by flashlight until the last camper is asleep.
About one camper in four comes on a campership. Nobody in the cabin knows which ones.
What fills a week
Campers choose three activity blocks on Sunday night and can swap once on Wednesday.

Morning hikes into the Pisgah forest, up to six miles round trip, with a lunch stop at Looking Glass overlook for the older cabins.

All ages
Ukuleles, songs for chapel, and the Friday skit night that parents hear about for weeks.

All ages
Lanyards, of course, plus tie-dye, leatherwork and paper airplanes that get thrown off the dining-hall porch.
Letters home

She cried at drop-off and cried harder at pick-up because she didn't want to leave. We've already booked next summer.

I learned to start a fire with one match and I'm not even scared of the dark lake anymore.

I was a camper for six summers. Now I'm the one reading by flashlight. It's the best job I'll ever have.

Design notes
Pine Hollow has two readers who want different things from the same page: a nine-year-old who wants to see the creek and the campfire, and a parent who wants dates, prices and the nurse's name. The design gives the first screen to the kids and every screen after it to the parent.
Fredoka is a rounded sans with the soft corners of a painted cabin sign or a craft-foam name tag, so headings feel like camp without resorting to a novelty font. Nunito Sans carries the dense practical copy, prices, medication rules, packing lists, in a calm, open text face. Caveat appears sparingly as a counselor's handwriting.
The orange is the old canoe fleet, re-painted every spring, and the green is the pine canopy above the cabins. The background is the pale gray-green of creek mist at 7 AM. In the dark theme the page turns into the campfire: deep lake blue with the orange brightened to flame and the green to fresh fern.
A classic top bar with every page named, because parents are task-driven and come back several times between October and June: dates, then the packing list, then the drop-off map. Register a camper is always top right. Rounded corners and soft shadows keep cards feeling like things you could pick up.
A mosaic of five photographs leads, with the headline locked into one corner, so a child scrolling over a parent's shoulder sees campfires, tents and friends before reading anything. The headline is written for the parent; the photos do the talking to the kid.
Register a camper is the action that matters from October to May, so it never moves. Secondary buttons name the next task honestly: See 2027 dates and prices, Book an open-house tour, Send a kid to camp.
Real outdoor moments, campfires, forest paths, circle games and tents, with kids who look like the camp's actual mix of campers. Staff portraits are relaxed and outdoors because the people in them will be living in a cabin with your child.
Prices, dates and ages are set as text in tables and lists, never baked into images. The orange has been darkened until white text on it passes AA, the sessions list works with a keyboard, and the health and medication information is written in plain sentences, not policy language.
Every text pairing is checked against WCAG 2.2 in both themes.
