A congregation with deep roots
For more than sixty years Cornerstone has met on the same corner, worshiping the same God and loving the same town.
Our story
Cornerstone began in 1962 when eleven families met in a rented grange hall in Maple Grove. They pooled their savings, bought a corner lot on Elm Street and built the first sanctuary with their own hands.
The brick sanctuary we worship in today was dedicated in 1974. Its stained glass came from a closed church in Dayton, and the pews carry the names of the families who raised them.
We are still a small-town church at heart. We bury our dead, baptize our babies and bring soup when someone is sick. If you are new, we would be glad to learn your name.

What we hold dear
Scripture first
We read the Bible aloud every Sunday and teach it plainly.
Reverent worship
Hymns, prayer and silence give our hearts room to praise.
Open doors
Every person is welcome, whatever their story.
Faithful service
We serve quietly and consistently, week after week.
How we got here
A few moments that shaped who we are today.

What we believe
- One God in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- The Bible is God's Word and our guide for faith and life.
- Jesus Christ lived, died and rose again for our salvation.
- Baptism and the Lord's Supper are gifts to the church.
- God calls us to love our neighbors as ourselves.
